  Jim Davis is an American cartoonist best known for creating the iconic comic strip "Garfield." Born on July 28, 1945, in Marion, Indiana, Davis grew up on a small farm where he developed a love for drawing from an early age. After studying art and business at Ball State University, he worked as an assistant on Tom Ryan's "Tumbleweeds" comic strip. In 1978, Davis introduced the world to Garfield, a lazy, sarcastic, yet endearing orange tabby cat who loves lasagna and hates Mondays. The strip quickly gained popularity, and Garfield became one of the most beloved and widely syndicated comic strips in the world. Born on July 5, 1958, in Washington, D.C., Watterson began his career as a cartoonist after graduating from Kenyon College in 1980. His comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes" debuted in 1985 and ran until 1995, captivating readers with its humor, imagination, and poignant insights into childhood, society, and the human condition.   No começo do século XIX, quando o príncipe regente D. João abriu os portos do País, os ingleses começaram a chegar ao Brasil - em especial, para São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador e Recife. A Inglaterra era possuidora de uma frota poderosa que percorria o mundo, e os ingleses esperavam encontrar aqui uma boa oportunidade para expandir sua indústria e comércio, bem como obter o máximo de lucro.
